Job Overview

The Terry Smith Agency – Farmers Insurance is a growth-driven, high-standard insurance agency serving Southwest Michigan. We are committed to excellence, accountability, and doing the right thing for our clients and our team.

We are hiring a Service Representative who is reliable, motivated, and eager to learn. Prior insurance experience is helpful, but not required. What matters most is a strong work ethic, professionalism, and the ability to learn quickly in a structured, performance-based environment.

This is not a cold-calling or outbound sales role. You will work with existing clients, helping service policies, answer questions, and ensure clients are properly protected. Over time, you will learn how to conduct coverage reviews, support life insurance conversations, and contribute to agency growth through referrals and client reviews.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to build a career, not just work a job. You must complete an assessment to be considered for a position.

Salary Range: $36,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year

Requirements
  • Strong reliability, work ethic, and personal accountability.
  • Coachable mindset with the ability to learn quickly and apply feedback.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and comfort working in a regulated environment.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain required Property & Casualty insurance licenses (training and support provided).
  • Prior experience in customer service, sales, banking, finance, or insurance is a plus, but not required.
  • Consistent work history and commitment to growth preferred.
  • Candidates who already hold a Property & Casualty and/or Life & Health insurance license are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
  • Provide professional, accurate, and timely service to existing clients via phone, email, and in-office communication.
  • Learn and handle policy changes, billing questions, underwriting follow-ups, and claims assistance with strong attention to detail.
  • Participate in coverage reviews to help clients better protect their homes, autos, and families.
  • Support agency growth through internal new business, life insurance conversations, referrals, and 5-star client reviews.
  • Maintain clear, compliant documentation of all client interactions.
  • Show up on time, prepared, and ready to improve every day
