A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial roofing estimation

Extensive knowledge of commercial roofing systems, materials, construction processes, and theories

Proficiency in takeoff software or other construction estimating software

Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills

Strong communication and negotiation skills

Excellent attention to detail and the ability to make accurate judgments and decisions

Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously

A thorough understanding of the commercial construction industry, including the various stages of construction projects, from design to completion

Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected situations effectively

Knowledge of safety and legal documentation procedures for the construction industry

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook

This role is pivotal in our commercial construction operations, focusing on the estimation of commercial roofing projects

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial roofing projects by analyzing the plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation

This role requires a deep understanding of roofing materials, labor costs, and the ability to use takeoff software efficiently

Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other construction documents to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates

Review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists necessary for commercial roofing projects

Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost-effectiveness

Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hours and related cost data or to effect cost reduction

Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues

Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates

Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors

Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors

Establish and maintain a tendering process, and conduct negotiations

Project Assessment: Review and analyze project specifications, blueprints, and proposals to determine scope and requirements for commercial roofing projects.

Site Visits: Conduct site evaluations to gather necessary measurements and data for accurate estimating.

Cost Estimation: Calculate material, labor, and equipment costs to develop comprehensive and competitive project bids.

Proposal Preparation: Prepare detailed and clear proposals for clients, ensuring all specifications and costs are accurately represented.

Client Interaction: Engage with clients to discuss project needs, answer questions, and ensure a positive and informed experience throughout the estimating process.

Vendor Liaison: Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and material information crucial for estimating.

Market Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, costs, and innovations to maintain competitive and up-to-date estimating practices.
