The Field Representative role is a front-line team member position in which you will be visiting commercial properties throughout Idaho to collect information relating to construction, occupancy, exposure, and protection of buildings to determine the variables in developing loss costs used by insurance companies for premium determination. This team member will also visit commercial buildings in Eastern Idaho to create underwriting reports for insurance companies. Starting wage will be $21.00 - $24.00 dollars an hour based on experience and aptitude.

Listed hourly rate is a starting rate based on experience, proficiency and aptitude. Slight bump in pay possible after successful completion of 90 probationary period and annual merit reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Survey dwellings and commercial properties to collect information relating to how the buildings are constructed and occupied.? Collect information about the public and private protection available at the property as well as special hazards and exposures.

  • Measure areas to calculate building dimensions as well as areas occupied by individual building tenants.

  • Draft scale drawings of these properties using the provided CAD software.? The drawing will show the address of the property, the building located on the property, as?well as its location in relation to roadways?and surrounding exposures.

  • Prepare written specific loss cost surveys using the specific commercial property evaluation schedule and schedule for electric generating stations, underwriting reports, and replacement cost worksheets as required by the Bureaus operating procedures.? Use the Bureaus computer databases to access information needed to properly complete these surveys.

  • Assist callers as needed to explain written specific loss cost surveys, loss costs produced by the surveys, as well as creating tentative loss costs.

  • Assist callers as needed in determining the class of public protections for locations provided by the callers or visitors.

  • Promote the Bureau services and website through presentations with your assigned agents.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • The ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to explain the purpose of the visits to the property as well as report the information collected about the properties visited.

  • Knowledge as acquired in post-secondary or working in the insurance industry.

  • Good knowledge and ability to use software programs in Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and other computer-based drawing programs.

  • Ability to travel overnight via automobile or air up to 50% of the time.

  • The ability to use digital photographic equipment.

  • The ability to do basic math.

  • Knowledge or experience in the building construction trades is a bonus.

  • Knowledge of the Fire Rating Suppression Schedule is a bonus.
