The Accounting Specialist will be performing a variety of financial activities including processing, recording, updating, and reconciling information, providing instructions, recommendations and/or accounting support to other personnel and vendors. This position has huge growth potential. The ideal candidate has experience with accounting software, computer applications particularly electronic spreadsheets and databases, ability to develop and implement accounting operating procedures. Ultimately, you will help the Accounting Team run smoothly, ensuring transparency and efficiency in all transactions.

Salary Range: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or any other related field required, and/or 1-2 years of related experience
• Ability to evaluate and develop and streamline processes
• Knowledge of general accounting preferred
• Insurance Industry experience is a plus
• Knowledge of QuickBooks a plus
• Knowledge of Applied Epic a plus
• Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment
• Ability to learn quickly, retain and apply information
• Computer literacy, including high functioning ability with Microsoft Office and Excel
• High level of organization, time management and ability to prioritize
• An honest and discreet attitude when dealing with company accounts

• Review current procedures, evaluate efficiency and develop new operating processes.
• Ability to create and implement new SOP’s that positively impact company revenue stream.
• Determines best course of action when faced with a process that is not efficient
• Post customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
• Processing and recording account receivable payments according to company policy.
• Balancing daily cash transactions and preparing bank deposits.
• Verifying and processing deposits and allocating to the correct cost centers and departments.
• Process benefits, personal lines and commercial lines direct bill and agency bill commissions and research any discrepancies
• Requires strong working knowledge and ability to utilize multiple systems during virtual training.
• Review and manage monthly billing with insurance tracking company
• Accurately posting all insurance payments and adjustments daily
• Process journal entries as required
• Bank Reconciliations
• Interacts with agents and employees to determine and resolve billing problems in a manner that promotes goodwill
• Work in conjunction with other departments to resolve issues and demonstrate the ability to become proficient in the use of proprietary operational systems
• Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
• Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by achieving related results as needed
