This position is paid on a commission-based pay plan, including a guaranteed salary of $300 per week, along with a $300 weekly draw against commission. The guaranteed salary is paid as a regular paycheck bi-weekly. Bonuses and commissions earned are paid out in a commission check the following month. With a strong opportunity to generate leads directly from the service drive, high performers have significant earning potential.
Job Description
The Sales & Service Concierge will work closely with both the Sales and Service teams and is expected to understand and embody the values of Barker Motor Company. As a primary point of contact in the service lane, they must represent the dealership with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to excellent service.
This role is focused on engaging customers who are already visiting the dealership for service, identifying opportunities for vehicle upgrades, and creating a seamless transition from service to sales when appropriate. The goal is to provide a helpful, pressure-free experience while uncovering opportunities to assist customers with trading or upgrading their current vehicle.
They must embrace the mission and vision of Barker Motor Company and bring them to life by creating a buying experience that is transparent, customer-focused, and value-driven. They are expected to be proactive, personable, and highly engaged throughout the day in the service drive.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk the lot, sit or stand for extended periods, talk, hear, use hands to write and operate a computer or phone. Must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to safely operate vehicles for customer test drives or inventory management.
Greet and engage customers in the service lane in a friendly and professional manner.
Review customer vehicles and ownership situations to identify trade or upgrade opportunities.
Start conversations with service customers about current market values, equity positions, and upgrade options.
Present trade-in opportunities and connect interested customers with a Sales Consultant or Sales Manager.
Work closely with Service Advisors to identify customers who may benefit from upgrading instead of repairing.
Maintain a strong understanding of current inventory, incentives, and manufacturer programs.
Assist in appraising vehicles and gathering customer information to support the sales process.
Log all interactions and opportunities in the CRM accurately and consistently.
Follow up with service customers who showed interest but did not immediately convert.
Help create a smooth and positive transition from service to sales.
Maintain a professional presence in the service drive at all times, ensuring customers feel welcomed and assisted.
Participate in ongoing training and team meetings.
Achieve monthly goals related to appointments, opportunities created, and units sold.
Perform other duties as needed or assigned by the Sales Manager.

About Barker Motor Company
Barker Motor Company began in 1935 when Alden F. Barker II opened an Oldsmobile dealership in Bloomington, Illinois. In 1945, the dealership moved to North Lee Street, and in 1956, Alden’s sons Al and Bill took over. Over the decades, Barker expanded by adding the Cadillac franchise in 1978, the GMC franchise in 1994, and the Chevrolet franchise in Lexington in 2004.
In 1999, the dealership was purchased by Dan Traeger and Tim Johnson, and Barker continued to grow. By 2011, GM awarded Barker the Buick franchise.
